Becker's Ortho and Spine Review

Dr. Slosar Named Among the Top 100 in the Country

Spine industry newsletter, Becker’s Orthopedic & Spine Review, released today (24 Feb 2011) their annual list of the top 100 spine surgeons in the country. Dr. Paul Slosar, a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon has been named to the list. Only two other orthopedic surgeons in the San Francisco area were similarly recognized by Becker’s.

According to the Becker’s Orthopedic & Spine Review website, the top spine surgeon list was prepared based upon “surveys, research and nominations.” In addition, all physicians considered for the honor “undergo a substantial review with other peers… Physicians do not pay and cannot pay to be selected as a best physician.”

President of SpineCare Medical Group, in Daly City, CA, Dr. Slosar’s philosophy of “getting it right the first time” is apparent in all aspects of his practice. He is a proponent of minimally-invasive spine surgery and frequently performs spine surgery in the outpatient setting. Through this innovative approach, Dr. Slosar’s patients experience less disruption of healthy tissues and muscles which significantly reduces post-operative pain and allows for a faster recovery. In fact, Dr. Slosar’s patients undergoing outpatient spine surgery return home within a few hours of surgery.

In the brief biography included in the Becker’s Top 100 list, Dr. Slosar is recognized for his contributions to organized spine surgery through the various leadership positions he holds. The authors also acknowledge his personal contributions to the body of scientific evidence on spine surgery, including authorship of journal articles, book chapters and presentations at national society meetings. Dr Slosar also trains other surgeons across the country and has been the assistant director of the San Francisco Spine Institute surgical fellowship program for 14 years.

“I’m honored to be recognized for my excellence in and contributions to spine surgery,” commented Dr. Slosar, a San Mateo resident, upon learning of the distinction. “There are many great spine surgeons included on the 2011 Becker’s Top 100 list.”

Recently I was recognized as a “Spinal Champion” by the Spinal Research Foundation.

As I work with a number of exciting companies with great technologies, I occasionally find that the media is interested in what’s new in spine surgery.
